Return to Tikal

Great News! I am going to get to revist Tikal in January! I can hardly wait! My bags are already packed. Tammy at MayaExpeditions has me all set up at the Jaguar Inn for three days, plus I will get to stop first at Uaxactun then to lake Yaxha and the Tapoxte ruin. If you have been watching Survivor Guatemala--it is at Yaxha but that is not why I am going there--it is despite that--lol. The first time there we stayed at the Sombrero Inn situated on the shores of Lake Yaxha. The owner is originally from Italy (20+ years ago) and fixed us the most wonderful Italian meals. The first day at lunch we had pesto and this beautiful tossed salad. Now that may not seem extraordinary but what you have to realize is that we had just driven in on rough almost unpassable roads for about two hours off the main road through jungle to come upon this resort that was almost like something out of "Travelers Paradise" --and then to be served fresh pesto (she grows her own basil). Wonderful get away and so relaxing. But the climax of this return trip will be three entire days at Tikal itself. I would love to spend more but....
