POW WOW PICKUP UPDATE

As you can see, it has been some time since I added to this post.

In the interim-- POW WOW PICKUP has now become an ebook (with a new "hunky" cover look) thanks to the efforts of the editors at INNERVISION BOOKS. It (along with many other good romatic reads) is now available through them at http://www.innervisionbooks.com/ or as a Kindle book through AMAZON.

Thanks to all of you who have read POW WOW PICKUP and given me encouragement and extremely useful feedback. Hope you help spread the word about its new availability. For those of you who have not as yet read POW WOW PICKUP, I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it and I hope it gives you a little more insight into Native American culture as well as the commonalities of the human heart.

Currently:

I have finished CHEBON"S JOURNEY (second book in the Powwow Pickup trilogy) and am working on VOICES OF THE LITTLE PEOPLE (a supernatural story based on a spinoff character from POW WOW PICKUP). I am also researching and working on a follow-up article to one I had written a number of years back for The HerbalGram titled "Chocolate: Past, Present and Future of Cacao".

I do appreciate hearing from you.

Return to Tikal

Great News! I am going to get to revist Tikal in January! I can hardly wait! My bags are already packed. Tammy at MayaExpeditions has me all set up at the Jaguar Inn for three days, plus I will get to stop first at Uaxactun then to lake Yaxha and the Tapoxte ruin. If you have been watching Survivor Guatemala--it is at Yaxha but that is not why I am going there--it is despite that--lol. The first time there we stayed at the Sombrero Inn situated on the shores of Lake Yaxha. The owner is originally from Italy (20+ years ago) and fixed us the most wonderful Italian meals. The first day at lunch we had pesto and this beautiful tossed salad. Now that may not seem extraordinary but what you have to realize is that we had just driven in on rough almost unpassable roads for about two hours off the main road through jungle to come upon this resort that was almost like something out of "Travelers Paradise" --and then to be served fresh pesto (she grows her own basil). Wonderful get away and so relaxing. But the climax of this return trip will be three entire days at Tikal itself. I would love to spend more but....

What is happening with the clubs?

This will probably date me, but what is happening with the clubs? Used to be you went to the clubs to have fun and dance. Seems like no one shows up any more until almost midnight and the club is done by one. The guys drink before they come so they don't have to pay the price at the bar and the girls attend ladies night and drink as fast as they can so they can get sloshed. One guy said the reason they don't show up until almost midnight is because the girls are drunk by then and they don't have to buy any drinks for them that way. They figure all they have to do is ply them will a little conversation and a couple of dances and they are out the door and in the bed by 1. On top of that, I was at the club the other night and a fight broke out--now mind you, this is not a big city, just a little town, and a guy and a gal got into it on the dance floor and their friends tried to break it up and then the friends got into it and pretty soon someone went to the car and got a gun and blew the glass windows of the club door out with several shots. IT was a wonder no one got hurt or killed--pure luck. What are these people thinking? Obvious they are not thinking. What if they had not only taken out the person that ticked them off in the first place but what if they took out a stranger or a friend just because they wanted to show someone how macho they were. What happened to just going to the club and having a good time dancing and socializing?--That's my rant for the day--

My Profile

I am a Colorado Native from Loveland/Fort Collins area. I relocated to the Boston Mountains region of the Arkansas Ozarks almost 15 years ago. The surrounding states of Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas are part of the setting in which my first novel, POWWOW PICKUP, takes place. I have been a freelance writer and author for over 25 years and continue to write and explore life through writing.

I currently share my life with four furry dog faces who have taught me the most important things in life which are: full supper dishes, naps in the sun and walks in the field. We are still debating the efficacy of chasing cats.
